Without a doubt, truck drivers are the backbone of America! In honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week each September, we proudly thank Kopf drivers and all truckers throughout our country for your hard work, sacrifices, and safe decisions every day.
How to Thank A Trucker
Without truck drivers, you may not have the cell phone, laptop, or desktop you are reading this blog on. If you do not personally know a truck driver to thank, please don’t miss this opportunity to thank a trucker with one of these great ideas. They may sound simple, but they can mean a lot.
1. Be courteous
The absolute best way you can thank a trucker is by showing them courtesy on the road. Give truckers extra space! Choose to be patient! Imagine how often a truck driver is cut off, honked at, or put in a dangerous situation simply because another motorist is in a hurry and unaware. Don’t let that motorist be you. Leaving space is by far the best way you can thank a trucker!
2. Pray
More than likely you will see a trucker during the next few days. Make it a point to pray for the first trucker you see each time you get in your car.
4. Buy a meal
The next time you are at a rest stop or gas station with your family, thank a trucker for their work and offer to buy him or her a meal or give a gift card to an easy-to-find restaurant chain. If you are not sure which driver to thank, you could secretly tape your gift card with a thank you note onto a semi-truck fuel pump. Random acts of kindness can be done for truck drivers too!
5. Leave a comment
Lastly, thank a trucker by simply leaving a comment at the end of this post to say thank you to a specific Kopf driver, any trucker you know, or truckers in general. It only takes a moment to say thanks!
A Closer Look at Kopf Drivers
Let’s take a glimpse into the lives of three of our drivers at Kopf: Del, Jim, and Lavon. Is there something you can connect to in their stories? Pay attention to their dedication and commitment, imagine the sacrifices they have made for their families, and put yourself in their shoes.
1. Del
Del has been a truck driver for over 30 years, several of which have been with Kopf as an over the road driver. He is the father of ten amazing children, two of whom are still at home. A typical day for Del has him on the road early, driving most of the day delivering freight. When he is not at work he likes the outdoors –hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoys watching NASCAR, football, and basketball. “I’m the kind of person if you show me respect, I’ll show you the same respect.” Del, thank you for all the freight you have delivered these past 30 years!
2. Jim
Jim has been a driver for Kopf for more than 20 years and was a driver prior to joining our team. He has four grown children, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Jim is on the road much of the time; so, his son helps care for his home while he’s gone. A typical day for Jim starts early. He gets a load and gets on the road! When not at work, depending on the weather, he likes to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Jim, thank you for more than 20 years of sacrificing time with your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild to drive for Kopf!
3. Lavon
Lavon has been driving for almost 40 years, off and on with Kopf. He initially got into the industry because he always enjoyed going out and just driving. His older brother was a truck driver and took him along on his runs. “He always told me it’s a good life—but a different life because being away from home is hard.” A perfect workday for Lavon? “Driving, taking a break, and driving some more! Having nice weather makes it good.” Lavon, thank you for decades of dedication to driving, in both good and poor weather!
How Will You Thank A Trucker?
Del, Jim, and Lavon are just three of many dedicated truck drivers who deserve our thanks! Don’t miss an opportunity today to thank a trucker by: being courteous on the road, praying for a trucker, posting on social media, doing random acts of kindness, or leaving a comment at the end of this blog.
